Puerto Antofagasta highlighted the contribution cruise tourism can make to regional development during the third edition of Expoturismo 2026. At the event, the port company shared its involvement in the industry and discussed opportunities for the city and the wider region to increase the benefits associated with this activity.
Through its “Cruise Tourism” presentation, Puerto Antofagasta outlined its work with the Regional Tourism Roundtable and the Bioceanic Corridor Tourism Roundtable, as well as its membership in the Corporación de Puertos del Conosur. These forums help coordinate efforts with public institutions, tour operators, ports, terminals and other industry stakeholders.
The presentation also addressed the current state of Chile’s cruise industry and opportunities for improvement to strengthen Antofagasta’s position as a destination. The approach linked attracting new port calls with developing the local tourism offering and services, while showcasing the attractions and experiences available throughout the region, from the sea to the mountains.
Organized by Sernatur and the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, Expoturismo 2026 brought together approximately 30 exhibitors from the public and private sectors, with representation from all nine municipalities in the region. The fair featured artisans, academic institutions, tourism professionals and representatives of the culinary sector, alongside spaces dedicated to art, music, culture and regional heritage.
